Tooth Extractions

Dr. Bateson and her team will do all they can to save a tooth and avoid permanently removing a tooth, which is called an extraction. However, there are instances where an extraction simply cannot be avoided. We understand that having a tooth removed is not ideal, but in the end, you will be better for it in terms of your overall oral health. We will ensure you are kept comfortable during the entire process and we will thoughtfully talk you through every step.

I have a painful tooth, is extraction in order?

If your tooth is broken beyond repair, otherwise damaged, or severely decayed, an extraction may be the best solution. If you do not require surgery on your tooth, we can perform a tooth extraction right here in the office with as little pain as possible. Once your aching tooth is removed, we will carefully and thoroughly clean the area and assess if there is any further decaying of the gums or any infection present in the area. To replace the removed tooth, we will discuss a variety of possible restoration options and come up with a solution you are satisfied with.

Please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions you may have about the extraction procedure. And believe us when we say it sounds worse than it is. You won’t feel pain when we numb the area prior to the extraction. Plus, you will feel a million times better when that damaged or decayed tooth is gone and any infection is cleared away. With a natural looking restoration, your tooth will look like new and your smile will be back to normal…perhaps even nicer than before.
